South Rim, Sowbelly, Wright Draw Fire updates

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -Here are the latest updates on the wildfires scorching across the West.

The South Rim Fire continues to burn in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, nine miles east of Montrose. As of 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, the fire burns at approximately 3,500 acres and is 0% contained.

New evacuations were issued for residents on M73, N73, N74, and O74 roads.

All Bostwick Park residents are still under evacuation.

Highway 347 is still closed.

The Sowbelly Fire, burning in the Dominguez Canyon Conservation Area in Delta and Mesa counties, burns at just over 2,200 acres and is also 0% contained...

Pinyon Pine and Juniper continue to fuel the fire.

Local crews consisting of the Bureau of Land Management and Southwest District Fire continue to battle the flames.

As of 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, the Wright Draw Fire, near Gateway, Colorado, has burned 160 acres, while the Turner Gulch Fire has burned 512 acres, according to the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit.

An evacuation order was issued for a four-mile stretch along Highway 141 from Mile Markers 120 to 124.

Aerial crews continue to monitor the fire as plans to suppress it are underway.
