South Africa's Western Cape Tourism Sparkles Globally!
The Western Cape Government has extended its congratulations to the province's exceptional achievers in the global tourism and wine industries, whose recent accolades have garnered international recognition and solidified the region's standing as a premier destination. These achievements, highlighted by awards at the 2025 World Travel Awards and other prestigious platforms, underscore the Western Cape's commitment to responsible tourism and unparalleled wine excellence.
A notable success story is the Township and Village (T&V) initiative in Stellenbosch, which earned a silver award in the Peace, Understanding and Inclusion category. Launched in 2018 with crucial support from the Stellenbosch Municipality, the T&V initiative has made a significant impact, welcoming over 2,500 visitors and empowering more than 40 local tourism providers. These beneficiaries include guides, artisans, and home-based entrepreneurs, all of whom have benefited from the initiative's focus on promoting dignity, inclusivity, and economic opportunity within historically marginalised communities. The T&V initiative also participated as one of 15 entities in the Sustainable Tourism Enterprise Partnership pilot project, funded by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) earlier this year, further demonstrating its commitment to sustainable growth.
