South Africa's Tourism Faces Shake-Up as Minister Dissolves National Board

Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has announced the immediate dissolution of the South African Tourism Board, effective Wednesday, August 20, 2025. This decisive action was taken in terms of section 16(3)(a) of the Tourism Act, which grants the Minister the authority to dissolve the board on good cause shown. Concurrently, the Minister also removed the individual members of the Board of South African Tourism, citing section 16(1) of the Act, which stipulates that a board member must vacate office upon removal by the Minister.
