Son of Sardaar 2 trailer: Ajay Devgn's Jassi pretends to be an Army veteran in this comedy-of-errors

Taking a gap from solemn roles, Ajay Devgn is back to serve some silly laughs. The trailer of , a spiritual sequel to his 2010 film of the same name, was unveiled by the makers on Friday. The action-comedy also stars Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, the late Mukul Dev, Chunky Panday, Vindu Dara Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, and Sanjay Mishra.

The trailer informs us that Jaswinder "Jassi" Singh Randhawa, after surviving Punjab, is now in Scotland. In order to get a young couple married, he, along with Mrunal’s Rabia, have to pretend to be the girl’s parents. But that’s not the problem. The real deal is that the guy’s father Raja (Ravi), a gangster, will only get his son married into a soldier’s family. A comedy-of-errors ensues as Jassi has to pretend to be an army veteran.

has been directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and is written by Jagdeep Singh Sidhu and Mohit Jain. Previously, a song from the film, ‘Pehla Tu Duja Tu’, was shared by the makers. It featured Ajay dancing only through his fingers, which grabbed attention on social media.

The 2012 film was a remake of SS Rajamouli’s Telugu film  (2010) and told the story of Jaswinder, played by Ajay, who falls in love with Sukhmit, played by Sonakshi Sinha, which leads to an angry exchange between him and her family. It was directed by Ashwini Dhir and also starred Sanjay Dutt.

When Sonakshi was asked in a PTI interview about not being part of the sequel to her 2012 film, , and why female actors are being replaced in franchise movies, she had said she isn't “upset” about it and believes the makers have a reason to not cast her.

Presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, is produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, NR Pachisia, and Pravin Talreja, and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak. It is set to be released in theatres on July 25.
