Snoop Dogg Releases New Album

Snoop Dogg has released a surprise album titled "Iz It A Crime?" The 21-track album, his 21st solo studio effort, arrives six months after his "Missionary" project with Dr. Dre. This album sees Snoop reflecting on various aspects of his life and career, while also addressing perceived criticisms.

The album features collaborations with several artists, including Pharrell Williams on "Spot," Wiz Khalifa on "Just The Way It Iz," Sexyy Red on "Me N OG Snoop," and Larussell, along with new Death Row signees Jane Handcock and Charlie Bereal. Production is handled by Battlecat, Rick Rock, and Nottz. The album is released on Death Row Records and gamma.

At a listening event in New York City, Snoop Dogg described "Iz It A Crime?" as a cathartic project. The track "My Friend," featuring Denaun, is an ode to deceased family members, including his mother, Beverly Broadus Green, and brother, Bing Worthington. "Can’t Get Enough" is dedicated to his wife, Shante Broadus, while "Life’s Journey" is a reflective look at his career.

Snoop addresses his detractors in "ShutYoBitchAssUp," seemingly aimed at former Death Row boss Suge Knight. Despite past reconciliation, Knight has recently made disparaging remarks about Snoop. The title of the album itself is a response to backlash Snoop received for his performance at the Inauguration and his comments expressing "nothing but love and respect" for President Donald Trump. This stance contrasts with his previous criticisms of Trump.

Snoop's change of heart might be related to Trump's pardon of Michael “Harry O” Harris, an old friend and the original founder of Death Row Records. "Iz It A Crime?", paired with an extended visual, includes music videos and documentary footage. The visual shows Snoop at the Paris Olympics with the United States Men’s Basketball team, conversing with Rev Run, and performing globally, enhancing the album's themes and narratives.
