SNL Mayhem: A$AP Rocky Debuts and Joins Sabrina Carpenter for Wild Sketch

Saturday Night Live recently featured A$AP Rocky as its musical guest, with a surprise cameo from pop star Sabrina Carpenter and host Finn Wolfhard, in an episode that aired on January 17. This marked A$AP Rocky's debut as a musical guest on SNL, where he delivered three tracks from his latest album, "Don’t Be Dumb," which had been released just prior to the show. He kicked off his performance with "Punk Rocky," presented on a chaotic, back-alley-themed set. This performance featured iconic composer Danny Elfman on drums and Thundercat on bass, mirroring the song's wild music video with Rocky himself in pink hair curlers and wielding a megaphone. Later in the show, he returned to perform a medley of "Helicopter" and the album’s title track, "Don't Be Dumb."
Beyond his musical acts, A$AP Rocky also participated in a humorous sketch titled "Snack Homiez." This nearly six-minute segment featured "Stranger Things" star Finn Wolfhard, who portrayed a "looksmaxxing gigachad" Twitch streamer. He was joined by cast members Chloe Fineman, Jane Wickline, and Veronika Slowikowska, who played 12-year-old boys. The sketch humorously depicted the group roasting each other and ranking their "goated snacks of 2026," with the dialogue peppered with accurate Gen Alpha slang such as “low-key,” “bro chill,” “no Diddy,” and “chopped.” Sabrina Carpenter, at 26 years old, made a surprise cameo in this particular sketch, reprising a similar role from a previous appearance.
During the "Snack Homiez" sketch, the boys engaged in discussions about various snacks, including toasted Uncrustables, celery after soccer practice, and deviled eggs. Their attention eventually turned to special guest A$AP Rocky, who, when asked about his go-to snack, revealed his very own flavor of Rap Snacks potato chips: "Fashion Killa Dilla Pickle." Sabrina Carpenter's return to SNL followed her previous stint in October 2025, when she served as both host and musical guest after the release of her seventh album, "Man’s Best Friend," which impressively debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. During that earlier episode, she performed her Billboard Hot 100 hit “Manchild” and “Nobody’s Son.” A$AP Rocky's prior involvement with SNL includes an appearance in a 2018 sketch called "Friendos" alongside Kenan Thompson and Donald Glover, but January 17 marked his first time as a musical guest. His last album, "Testing," dropped in 2018 and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, while his earlier albums, 2013’s "Long. Live. ASAP" and 2015’s "At. Long. Last. ASAP," both reached No. 1 on the chart.
