Snapchat Rolls Out Arrival Notifications to Let Others Know You’ve Reached Your Destination
Snapchat launched a new feature in early February 2026 designed to help users automatically share when they’ve reached a destination safely, without needing to remember to send a message.
This feature is called Arrival Notifications, this update builds on the app’s existing Home Safe feature but goes further, letting users set alerts for any location, not just home.
In today’s connected world, knowing where someone is and whether they arrived safely can provide both convenience and peace of mind.
From “Home Safe” to “Anywhere Safe”
Snapchat first introduced Home Safe in 2025, letting users automatically notify a chosen friend or family member when they arrived home safely. However, people quickly saw the potential for a broader feature. Now, Snapchat has expanded this idea: Arrival Notifications work for any destination.
Users can select any location on Snap Map and have Snapchat automatically notify someone when they arrive.
This makes staying connected passive, you don’t have to remember to send a text or update someone manually.
How Arrival Notifications Work
Here’s how the new feature works:
Choose Who Gets Notifications:
You select friends you want to share your location with. Snapchat sends alerts only to trusted friends or family. Location sharing is off by default.Pick a Destination:
Open your Snap Map and select the location for the alert. It could be school, work, gym, airport, or a friend’s house. You can also name locations for easy reference.Set One-Time or Recurring Alerts:
Configure alerts for a single event or on a recurring schedule, like going to work every day. Alerts expire automatically after triggering or after 24 hours.Automatic Notification:
Snapchat sends a notification to your chosen friends when you arrive at the location. It works whether you’re walking, driving, or using public transport.
Why This Matters
Snapchat’s Arrival Notifications aren’t just convenient, they reflect a growing focus on safety and peace of mind in social apps.
1. Safety First
Parents or guardians can easily check if teens have arrived safely at school or a friend’s house, without frequent texts. Travelers can also reassure friends or family without manually messaging.
2. Less Manual Messaging
Forget the “Text me when you get there” routine, Snapchat does it automatically.
3. Privacy Controls

Snapchat ensures users have control. Only selected friends see notifications, and location sharing is optional. You can always turn off alerts.
Snapchat joins other apps introducing automatic arrival alerts, like Apple’s Check In.
However, Snapchat stands out by integrating this safety feature into a social platform people already use daily. With over 400 million users accessing Snap Map monthly, the app is turning a fun social tool into a practical safety feature.
