Singaporean Investor Alleges US$1.5m NDC Campaign Donation | News Ghana
In court documents filed at the Accra High Court’s Human Rights Division, Kang alleges the funds were channeled through NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman Emmanuel Nii Ashie-Moore.
According to the affidavit, Kang states Ashie-Moore advised the donation as a “strategic investment” to facilitate Kang’s entry into Ghana’s electricity cable market.
Kang alleges the funds financed campaign materials promoting the NDC’s “24-hour economy” policy, including T-shirts, caps, and booklets.
He further claims Ashie-Moore invoked former President John Mahama’s name to encourage continued support, implying Mahama was aware of the arrangement.
The campaign financing allegation forms part of Kang’s broader lawsuit seeking GH¢20 million ($1.6 million) in compensation. He alleges unlawful detention, assault, and denial of legal representation during a May 2025 visit to Ghana.
Separately, Kang seeks to recover $800,000 paid for Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) contracts that reportedly never materialized.
Ashie-Moore has previously denied similar fraud and extortion accusations in unrelated matters. Neither the NDC nor President Mahama has publicly responded to the specific claims in Kang’s lawsuit.
