Simi Sanya & Femi Dapson's Grand Wedding Extravaganza: A Look at Traditional & Reception Styles

The traditional wedding ceremony of Simi Sanya and Femi Dapson was a grand display of fashion and cultural elegance, captivating attendees and online observers alike with multiple stunning looks from the couple and their guests. The celebration was a vibrant tapestry of carefully chosen colour palettes and intricate designs, reflecting both tradition and modern style.
For their initial appearance, Simi and Femi opted for a harmonious blend of blush pink and forest green. Femi Dapson donned a blush pink agbada crafted from a structured, textured fabric, featuring elaborate forest green embroidery. This embroidery, designed with geometric grid and leaf-like motifs, extended down the central panel and culminated in a circular crest at the hem. He completed his ensemble with matching pink sokoto and a fila with a green embroidered border. His styling included bold elements like layered oversized green beaded necklaces, an emerald-toned pendant, dark round sunglasses, and a sculptural green staff, all designed by HRH Bespoke Imperial and styled by Emmanuel Goodnews. Simi Sanya complemented his look in a fitted blush pink gown by Prudential Gabriel. Her dress showcased the same forest green geometric embroidery along the hips and front of the skirt. The bodice featured an off-the-shoulder neckline with dramatic, fan-like sculptural sleeves in green pleats, giving a sharp, modern edge. A cutout detail at the skirt's hem revealed layered embroidery underneath. Simi accessorized with a structured, rounded blush pink gele, a gold necklace, and a small pink drawstring pouch. The couple's first looks were designed to mirror each other, creating a visual harmony that beautifully fused traditional roots with a forward-looking aesthetic, set against a draped green backdrop that made the pink tones pop.
The wedding was also a platform for guests to showcase their style. Notably, Hilda Baci and her partner Damilola Akinwunmi arrived in coordinated blue traditional outfits. Hilda Baci, the celebrated Guinness World Record holder, wore a custom mermaid gown that masterfully played with colour. The dress featured a structured corset bodice with a sweetheart neckline and off-shoulder straps in a soft sky-blue shade, embellished with turquoise floral lace appliqué. The skirt presented a gradual colour transition, starting with rich cobalt blue at the waist, moving through teal, and ending in a deep emerald green at the hem. Densely beaded throughout, the skirt had a mid-thigh slit revealing green crystal-embellished strappy heels. Her vibrant turquoise gele was styled with a dramatic floral fold, and her makeup was warm and glowing. Damilola Akinwunmi matched her palette in a powder blue agbada layered over a navy embroidered waistcoat, with powder blue sokoto trousers, black loafers, and a navy-and-white patterned fila. His accessories included round tinted sunglasses, a gold watch, and a silver bracelet, ensuring the couple looked perfectly in sync with the day's colourful atmosphere.
For their reception, Simi and Femi returned with a second equally striking look centered on butter yellow and deep crimson red, a pairing rich in festive and traditional Yoruba wedding significance. Femi's agbada, by Tochini Bespoke, was butter yellow with matching sokoto and fila, adorned with flowing scroll and arabesque embroidery in a deeper gold-yellow shade. He layered coral and red beads, a coral bracelet, a gold watch, and tinted rectangular sunglasses, completing his ensemble with brown leather shoes and a dark wooden walking staff. Simi's reception outfit, designed by Veekee James and styled by Regal by Dovin, was a two-piece combination featuring an off-shoulder peplum top and a fitted mermaid skirt, both almost entirely covered in beads. Sculpted detailing at the shoulders and red beading along the peplum's hem added texture, while the deep crimson skirt displayed horizontal bands of butter yellow beadwork and a small train. She carried a large crimson ostrich feather fan and wore a high-tied butter yellow gele, complemented by gold jewellery and warm, rich makeup. This second ensemble continued the story of colour, tradition, and thoughtful styling, with bridesmaids in coordinated purple and powder blue looks, adding to the day's lively and festive visual experience.
