After a period of dormancy, the beloved Twilight franchise is making a significant return with an upcoming animated series from Netflix. This project, which has been in development for some time, is now showing concrete signs of progress, suggesting that a return to the rainy setting of Forks, Washington, is imminent.
The animated Twilight series, officially titled "Midnight Sun," is an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s companion novel. This book retells the familiar events of Twilight from the notably dour perspective of Edward Cullen. The project is moving forward, with casting now officially underway for two crucial Quileute characters, nearly two years after its initial announcement.
A casting call has been issued for the roles of Jacob Black and his father, Billy Black. For Jacob Black, the series is seeking a Native American male actor to voice the young teen character, with the description specifying an adult actor for the role. Billy Black, who was portrayed by Gil Birmingham in the original movies as Jacob's wheelchair-bound father, is also being cast.
While casting for the main characters like Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, the rest of the Cullen coven, and Chief of Police Charlie Swan is yet to be announced, the commencement of casting for Jacob and Billy Black indicates that these roles may soon follow. Stephenie Meyer herself is executive producing the series, with Sinead Daly serving as the showrunner.
