Shockwave: Plateau Governor Mutfwang Abandons PDP!

Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has officially tendered his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a move that marks a significant shift in the political landscape of the state. The governor formally communicated his decision in a letter dated December 29, 2025, which was addressed to Dasjak Sunday Longyol, the PDP chairman of his Ampang West Ward.
In his meticulously worded resignation letter, Governor Mutfwang articulated that his departure was driven by the imperative to seek an alternative political platform, which he believes will better enable him to serve the people of Plateau State. He conveyed his deep appreciation to the PDP for having provided him with the necessary foundation and opportunity to engage in the democratic process, acknowledging the support he received from party leaders, members, and supporters at all echelons throughout his tenure with the party.
Mutfwang elaborated that his decision was intrinsically guided by a steadfast commitment to purposeful leadership, ensuring clarity of direction, and optimizing service delivery to the citizens. The letter, bearing his personal signature, explicitly stated: “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect. I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me the political platform to participate in the democratic process. I appreciate the support of party leaders, members, and supporters at all levels during my time in the party, and I remain grateful for the trust reposed in me. Given the realities of the moment, and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform. Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”
Despite the official announcement of his resignation, Governor Mutfwang has, at this juncture, refrained from disclosing his next political affiliation. This omission has fueled further speculation, particularly given that his resignation follows several months of rumors and discussions within political circles regarding his potential move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
