The governor formally communicated his decision in a letter dated December 29, 2025, which was addressed to Dasjak Sunday Longyol, the PDP chairman of his Ampang West Ward.

In his meticulously worded resignation letter, Governor Mutfwang articulated that his departure was driven by the imperative to seek an alternative political platform, which he believes will better enable him to serve the people of Plateau State.
