SHOCKING SCANDAL: Ex-Senator Elisha Abbo Accused of Raping 13-Year-Old, Turns Self In!

Former Senator Elisha Abbo has reportedly turned himself in at the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja following severe allegations of rape. A detailed petition filed by the law firm D.I. Aiyedun & Co. to the Inspector General of Police accuses Abbo of raping a 13-year-old secondary school student, Khadija Muhammad, and attempting to rape her 16-year-old sister, Fatima Muhammad. These incidents allegedly occurred on June 29, 2025, at Abbo’s residence in Katampe Extension, Abuja.
According to the petition, 13-year-old Khadija was lured to Abbo’s residence by Nafisa Mohammed Chigli, a 17-year-old associate of the senator. The petition details that Abbo allegedly attempted to undress Khadija, overpowered her resistance, applied baby oil, and attempted to forcibly penetrate her. After the alleged act, he reportedly cleaned himself with a white cloth. Khadija later informed her father, who, according to the petition, blamed her and took no action. In a separate but similar scheme, Khadija’s older sister, Fatima Muhammad, was reportedly lured to Abbo’s residence by Zara Muhammad Chigli. Fatima managed to escape before the assault could be completed, but the petition cites this as demonstrating a repeated pattern of predatory behavior.
The allegations extend beyond sexual assault to include criminal intimidation of the two underage girls and their parents. The parents told SaharaReporters that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed “Binani,” a former senator and governorship candidate in Adamawa, visited their home to plead with them to keep the scandal quiet. It is also alleged that Abbo consistently sent money to the girls’ father following the incident in an attempt to silence the matter. Evidence supporting these claims includes a medical report from Deda Hospital for Khadija, dated July 11, 2025, noting a "bruise around the posterior fourchette" and stating that the "impression of sexual assault cannot be ruled out." Furthermore, a receipt of a N200,000 transfer on July 1, 2025, from Hassan Kure Musa, an associate of Abbo, to the victim’s father’s driver, is cited as a bribery attempt. A video clip recorded during the car ride home after the incident is reportedly in the victim’s possession.
The psychological impact on Khadija is described as devastating. Excerpts from an email exchange between Khadija and her school coach, included in the petition, reveal that she suffers from undiagnosed physical ailments consistent with severe psychological trauma and exhibits suicidal ideation. She expressed feelings of worthlessness, being unloved, invisible, and trapped, stating, “I'm having suicidal thoughts I don't know how much longer I can keep going... I feel like I'm drowning in everything that has happened... I feel like im a burden and think that everyone is better off without me.” Her coach noted that she is severely traumatized and has withdrawn socially.
The petition also details a relentless campaign of intimidation by Abbo to silence the victims and their family. These threats allegedly include releasing nude photos of Khadija, direct explicit threats to kill Khadija, and threats to her mother, indicating that he is monitoring all her moves.
The legal violations outlined in the petition encompass Sections 27(1)(a) & 28 of the Child Rights Act, 2003, for parental neglect and failure to report, and Section 283 of the Penal Code for defilement of a child, which carries a life imprisonment penalty given the victim’s age. Additionally, Sections 24 of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015, and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, 2015, are cited. Criminal conspiracy charges under Sections 97 & 98 of the Penal Code are also brought against Nafisa Mohammed Chigli, Zara Muhammad Chigli, and Hassan Kure Musa for their alleged roles. The petition calls for immediate investigation and arrest of Abbo, prosecution of his alleged accomplices, investigation of Hassan Kure Musa, urgent protection for the victims, and a broader inquiry into potential other victims.
Senator Abbo is no stranger to controversy, having previously been arrested for assaulting a vendor at a sex shop in Abuja and more recently accused of blackmailing a married woman with a sex tape. As of the time of reporting, Senator Abbo remained in custody at the FCID.
