Shocking Revelation: Mo Abudu's Voice Altered in Viral AI Video
Media executive Mo Abudu, founder of EbonyLife Group, has issued a stern warning to the public regarding a deceptive AI-generated video featuring her, which is currently circulating online. Abudu took to Instagram on Wednesday to address the manipulated clip, identifying its source as a Facebook account named “Naija Capital Growth.” She also shared the authentic version of the video to provide clarity and context.
Mo Abudu explicitly stated that both the voice and the message conveyed in the viral, altered video were not her own. She emphasized, “Please note that my voice and the message in the video has been altered. I have not asked anyone for money, and I would never ask for money in this way or manner. This video is completely fake and misleading.”
She further clarified that the original video, which was manipulated using AI technology, was an interview she conducted with Maggie McGrath, Editor of Forbes Women. This interview took place during her trip to Abu Dhabi on March 23, 2023, where she spoke as a speaker at the Forbes 30/50 Summit. Abudu urged the public not to send or part with any money in connection with this fraudulent video and requested assistance in circulating her warning widely to prevent others from falling victim to scams or misinformation.
Beyond this recent incident, Mo Abudu is a prominent figure in the media industry. As the founder of EbonyLife Media, she is behind successful productions such as "The Wedding Party," "Blood Sisters," and "Oloture." She has also forged significant partnerships with international studios including Netflix, Sony, BBC Studios, and Lionsgate, contributing to various film and television projects. Her work at the Forbes 30/50 Summit focused on important themes like African storytelling, media representation, and fostering global partnerships.
