Shocking Passport Redesign: US to Feature Trump's Face on New Travel Documents
The United States is preparing to roll out a new, limited-edition passport in July, designed to commemorate the country's 250th independence anniversary. This special document, announced by the Department of State, will feature President Donald Trump's face on the inside cover, marking a unique celebration of America's independence from the British monarchy.
A mockup of the design, shared by the White House on X, illustrates several distinctive features. The passport will display a blue-and-white image of Mr. Trump's face superimposed over the text of the Declaration of Independence. Additionally, it incorporates the US flag and Mr. Trump's signature, rendered in gold. Another page within the passport is set to include a famous painting depicting the US founding fathers signing the Declaration of Independence.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott confirmed that these new passports will be released in July as part of the administration's broader America250 initiative. This commemorative program also includes other events such as a UFC fight at the White House and a Grand Prix street race. The new booklet will become the default passport issued by the agency in Washington, D.C., though existing passport designs will continue to be available online and at other issuing locations.
This initiative aligns with Mr. Trump's ongoing efforts to prominently feature his image and name on various US institutions and documents. Previous examples include a banner of the president's face gracing the Department of Justice's headquarters, a 24-carat commemorative gold coin issued in honor of the 250th anniversary, and the addition of Mr. Trump's signature to US dollar bills by the Treasury Department.
White House spokesperson Olivia Wales lauded the new travel document as a "patriotic passport design" that offers Americans another excellent way to participate in the spectacular celebrations for America's 250th birthday. Ms. Wales added that Mr. Trump continues to "proudly lead a renewal of national pride and patriotism during our historic semiquincentennial celebration." The State Department further noted that the passport will include "customised artwork and enhanced imagery" while retaining all existing security features.
