Shanghai Airports Report Passenger Growth During Dragon Boat Festival via Chinadaily

Shanghai's two major airports, Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, experienced a significant surge in passenger traffic during the recent three-day Dragon Boat Festival, which concluded on Monday. According to a report released on Tuesday by the Shanghai Airport (Group) Co Ltd, the airports recorded double-digit growth year-on-year in the number of both inbound and outbound passengers.

Throughout the holiday period, which spanned from May 31 to June 2, the two airports collectively handled over 1.04 million passenger trips. Notably, the volume of inbound and outbound passengers saw a substantial increase, surging by 16.6 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of 338,000. Complementing this passenger activity, approximately 6,000 aircraft movements, including landings and take-offs, were registered at both Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport during these three days.

As part of Shanghai's broader strategy to attract a greater number of international visitors, the airports have been enhancing their service offerings. Travelers can now benefit from comprehensive amenities designed to improve their arrival experience, including readily available wireless Internet access, convenient currency exchange facilities, and the option to purchase local telephone cards and transportation cards directly at the airport.

To further assist foreign visitors, three round-the-clock one-stop service stations have been established and are now operational across the two airports. These stations are specifically designed to provide expatriates with immediate assistance upon their arrival in Shanghai, covering essential needs such as communication support, payment solutions, tourism information, and transportation guidance.

Beyond these services for international arrivals, the Shanghai Airport (Group) is also committed to enhancing the overall air travel experience for a diverse range of passengers. Special attention and considerate, convenient services are provided to first-time air travelers, senior passengers, families traveling with children, and passengers accompanied by pets, ensuring a smoother and more pleasant journey through the airports.
