Shah Rukh Khan Met gala debut

Mumbai: There was a buzz over Shah Rukh Khan’s participation at the Met Gala 2025. Now, it’s been confirmed that the Bollywood badshah will, indeed, make his grand debut at the world’s most iconic fashion event.

DietSabya, an anonymous Instagram account dedicated to exposing imitations or appropriations and blatant copies in fashion, confirmed the development.

Renowned fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee will be styling Shah Rukh’s outfit for the May 5 extravaganza at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

“National headlines. Threads in meltdown. Entertainment sites foamimg at the mouth. Twitter frenzy et al. Time to shut it down lol. We at DietSabya can confirm: Yes, that is indeed SRK — India’s undisputed generational superstar — making his Met Gala debut in May 2025, wearing Sabyasachi (India’s biggest luxury brand). But wait, was there ever a doubt? Are we excited? Or…? Catch you on the carpet,” DietSabya posted.

This year’s theme, selected by The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s curator Andrew Bolton, is — Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. It is inspired by the 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, by Monica L Miller.

Shah Rukh will have company on the red carpet in another first-timer from Bollywood. Mom-to-be Kiara Advani is also expected to be at Met Gala 2025. Kiara and Sidharth Malhotra are expecting their first child later this year.

Kiara will be following in the footsteps of fellow-Indian actresses Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt to attend the prestigious event.

The 59-year-old ageless Shah Rukh, on the other hand, is set to make history as the first Indian male superstar to grace the Met Gala.

Other Indian celebrities who have attended the iconic fashion event are Isha Ambani, Natasha Poonawalla, and Mona Patel.
