Security officer, 3 militants killed in SW Pakistan clash-Xinhua
ISLAMABAD, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Three militants and an officer of the Pakistani army were killed during a clash in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, the military said in a statement on Wednesday.
The incident happened in Awaran district, where the security forces launched an operation on the reported presence of terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said.
"During the operation, Pakistani troops effectively engaged the militants, killing three terrorists," the ISPR said, adding that the officer was also killed in the engagement.
Following the clash, security forces launched a sanitization operation in the area to clear any remaining threats, the statement said. ■
