after the club's humiliating defeat to Scottish Championship side Queen's Park.

Sean Dyche was previously linked with the Rangers job earlier this year before he was relieved of his duties at Everton.

The veteran Premier League boss was replaced at Goodison Park by David Moyes.

Aberdeen's former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – had his say on why Dyche would be “great” for Rangers.

Speaking on the new edition of 's Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed the Englishman’s style of play would suit Rangers as they “don’t have the greatest array of talent in their squad”.

Dyche was sacked at Everton after leading them to Premier League safety in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns.

Wyness claimed the 53-year-old would be “well-received” in Glasgow.

He told 's Insider Track podcast: "Sean would be great for Rangers.

"The grit he would bring is exactly what they need right now to get through this season and rebuild for next season.

"He'd be a very well-respected character in Glasgow.

"He would fit in with the fans very well and I think his style of play would suit Rangers, given that they don't have the greatest array of talent in their squad.

"Getting them well-organised would be interesting.

"Dyche would be a very interesting Clement replacement, I think he'd do well – and I think he'd be well-received.

"He's a character and that would go down well in Glasgow."

revealed on Wednesday (19 February) that Rangers have received a £3.6million injection from their owners in the form of a new share issue.

Rangers' financial situation has been firmly in the spotlight over the past few months after the club recorded heavy losses last season.

Clement's side currently sit 13 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table after 26 matches.
