SCRS Open Board Meeting Includes Update on Federal Right to Repair Legislation
At the meeting held May 1 in Virginia, SCRS also shared news on recent changes to all three estimating systems and swore in new officers and board members.
The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) held an open board meeting May 1 in Richmond, VA, the day after the Collision Industry Conference (CIC) and just prior to the Southeast Collision Conference, which opened that evening in the same location.
In addition to updates on programs and initiatives the association has been working on for the collision repair industry, the SCRS meeting included an update on the recent changes made to the three estimating system databases based on inquires submitted to the Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG), and an Education Committee presentation on useful welding resources.
, a lobbyist with the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, which represents automakers, and SCRS Executive Director discussed their joint efforts, along with the Automotive Service Association, to get federal legislation introduced they say will help ensure consumers have the right to decide where and how they want their vehicle repaired, including having their choice of parts, and repairs made in accordance with OEM procedures.
The meeting concluded with the swearing-in of SCRS’s officers and board for the coming year, including newly-elected board members of Cliff’s Body Repair in New York, of Dacus Auto Body in Kansas, and of Accurate Auto Body in Washington state.
of K&M Collision in North Carolina was named as the new board chairman, succeeding of Barsotti’s Body & Fender in California, who remains on the board as immediate past chair.
Re-elected board member of Roslyn Auto Body in Virginia was named vice chairman, board member of Community Collision Centers in California joined the executive committee as treasurer, of Pacific BMW Collision Center in California joined the executive committee as secretary, and of AkzoNobel was named a director at large.
