Scott McTominay's unexpected Napoli trait that has blown his teammates away - Football Scotland

Published 1 week ago2 minute read

Scott McTominay's goalscoring exploits in Italy have cemented his place as a Napoli fan's favourite.

But the Scotland star's physicality has stunned his Serie A teammates.

McTominay recently broke Denis Law's record by becoming the all-time top-scoring Scot in Italian football.

The ex-Man United midfielder has also been immortalised with a stunning shrine in the heart of Naples city centre.

Now, the 28-year-old and fellow Scot Billy Gilmour are on the verge of becoming league champions as Antonio Conte's table-toppers head into the final three games with a precious three point lead.

It would mark a stunning debut campaign for McTominay, whose unexpected quality has blown his teammates away.

In quotes shared by CalcioNapoli24 in a long interview with newspaper Cronache di Napoli, goalkeeper Alex Meret said: "We knew he was strong.

"After all, he played for many years in one of the most prestigious teams in Europe.

"However, I have to say I was equally surprised by his physicality and ability to get him into the penalty area.

"In fact, his goal haul is impressive."

Indeed, McTominay's impressive record stands at 12 goals across all competitions, with 11 of those scored in Serie A.

Napoli are set to face Genoa at home this weekend, before heading off to Parma.

They'll then host Cagliari in their final match of the season, while title rivals Inter Milan will be on the road against Torino and Como, with a crucial home game against Champions League hopefuls Lazio in between.
