School van with 10 children overturns after being hit by speeding car

Ahmedabad: A school van carrying 10 children from Nirma School overturned near Charodi village on Tuesday morning after being rear-ended by a speeding sedan car. None of the students sustained serious injuries in the accident, police said.According to police, the van was en route to the school when the sedan car crashed into it from behind, causing it to overturn. Locals rushed to the scene and helped pull the children out safely. The children were later reunited with their parents, who arrived shortly after being informed.Preliminary investigation revealed that the van was permitted to carry only eight children but had exceeded its capacity. Police also confirmed that the car that hit the van was being driven at high speed.

Since no formal complaint was filed by the van driver or the children's parents, the police registered two cases—one against the van driver for carrying more children than permitted by law, and another against the sedan car driver for rash and negligent driving.A Division traffic police inspector N A Desai said, "Two separate offences have been registered. The incident could have been far worse."This is the second mishap involving school vehicle reported in the city in recent months.

On April 2, a school bus crashed into a wall, a pillar, and a parked car near Nalanda School in Ghatlodia. The bus was empty at the time, avoiding what could have been a major tragedy.Authorities have once again urged schools and transport operators to strictly adhere to safety norms to prevent such incidents.Ahmedabad: A school van carrying 10 children from Nirma School overturned near Charodi village on Tuesday morning after being rear-ended by a speeding sedan car.
