Schitt's Creek Sequel Dreams Doused by Devastating Loss, Reveals Dan Levy

Dan Levy, co-creator and star of the acclaimed series "Schitt's Creek," recently revealed to CBS Sunday Morning that he had been considering a sequel series before the untimely death of his co-star, Catherine O'Hara. Levy emphatically stated that such a sequel "can't" be done now, expressing that the idea was actively on his mind prior to O'Hara's passing.

During his emotional interview, Levy revisited the iconic Rose Apothecary location, a prominent setting from "Schitt's Creek." He disclosed that he had not returned to the set since the show concluded its run just before 2020. "It's tough, it's tough being back," Levy confessed, admitting he didn't anticipate such a profound emotional reaction. He further elaborated, recalling, "Just a lot of memories, a lot of memories with Catherine. It's what you have to hold on to, is the memories of it all."

Catherine O'Hara, a revered figure in Hollywood, passed away on January 30 at her Los Angeles home at the age of 71, following a brief illness. On "Schitt's Creek," O'Hara delivered an unforgettable performance as the eccentric and defrauded socialite Moira Rose. She starred alongside Dan Levy, his father Eugene Levy, and Annie Murphy, portraying a once exuberantly wealthy family who suddenly found themselves penniless after falling victim to fraud.

"Schitt's Creek" first premiered on Canadian broadcaster CBC in 2015 and captivated audiences for six seasons, concluding in 2020. The series garnered widespread critical acclaim, culminating in an impressive nine Emmy Awards during its final season in 2020. These accolades included an outstanding comedy series win and an outstanding lead actress award for Catherine O'Hara's iconic portrayal of Moira Rose.

O'Hara's illustrious five-decade career in Hollywood was marked by numerous memorable roles beyond "Schitt's Creek." Her filmography includes starring roles in beloved movies such as "Best in Show," "Home Alone," "Beetlejuice," and "After Hours." She also made significant contributions to television, appearing in series like "The Studio," "The Last of Us," "Central Park," and "The Last Kids on Earth," cementing her legacy as a versatile and beloved actress.
