Scandalous Withdrawals: DPP Under Fire for Dropping Cases Against Ruto Allies!

Despite President William Ruto’s public declarations regarding his commitment to combating graft, actions by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) have presented a conflicting picture. In the last three years, the DPP's office has withdrawn corruption cases against allies of the head of state, which appears to contradict the President's anti-graft stance.

This situation brings to light the ongoing challenges faced by Kenya’s prosecutorial body. When Renson Mulele Ingonga assumed the role of Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecutions in September 2023, his appointment was met with cautious optimism. This hope was rooted in the expectation that he would restore integrity to an office that has long been perceived as being tainted by allegations of political interference and selective justice. The withdrawal of high-profile corruption cases continues to fuel public scrutiny and raises questions about the independence and impartiality of the justice system.
