Saskay's Academic Adventure: From Reality TV to Global Security Master's

Big Brother Naija starSaskay has embarked on a new academic chapter, finally pursuing her dream of higher education after a five-year delay. She is now enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Global Security and Strategy at the prestigious Brussels School of Governance, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).

In a deeply personal and emotional Instagram post,Saskay chronicled the arduous journey that led her to this significant milestone. She openly shared the struggles and uncertainties she faced over half a decade, during which she patiently waited for the opportune moment. Her revelations included moments of profound doubt that almost led her to abandon her aspirations entirely. There was even a period where she reluctantly enrolled in a course she felt no passion for, simply because she perceived a lack of viable alternatives.

Saskay candidly admitted to the emotional toll this period took on her, stating, “There were times I cried myself to sleep because I wanted more and I just wanted to go to school.” Her persistence and faith, however, ultimately paid off. This year, her breakthrough arrived with perfect timing, which she described as divine intervention. She secured admission to her desired program, was awarded a scholarship, and successfully navigated the visa application process – all critical steps falling into place sequentially.

Reflecting on her journey, Saskay highlighted a powerful lesson she embraced: the practice of gratitude in advance of receiving blessings. She recounted attending Thanksgiving in church even before her admission letter had arrived, choosing to express thanks for what she believed was already hers. “I recently learned to give thanks even before my blessings arrived,” she penned, underscoring her mindset.

While expressing immense joy for this new phase, Saskay was also transparent about the immediate challenges of returning to international studies. She confessed to finding the experience overwhelming and having already called her sister in tears. Despite these initial difficulties, she conveyed a strong sense of resolve, describing herself as “strapped in” and fully determined to meet the demands of her academic pursuit.

Her announcement was accompanied by a series of evocative photographs capturing different moments of her academic immersion. These images included her beaming outside VUB’s serene gardens, actively participating in lectures, standing proudly before the Brussels School of Governance sign, and engaging with classmates for a group photograph outside the iconic European Parliament, visually chronicling the initial steps of her long-awaited master’s journey.
