Samidoh Addresses Police Exit Rumors and Redeployment

Popular Mugithi singer and police officer Samuel Muchoki, famously known as Samidoh, has found himself embroiled in a disciplinary controversy following his recent redeployment. Samidoh was reassigned from the Central Region Police Headquarters to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) in Gilgil, a unit often operating in bandit-prone areas. This move sparked widespread speculation that it was disciplinary action, prompted by his participation in a political chant.

The alleged reason for his redeployment stems from a past performance where Samidoh joined his audience in reciting the viral 'wantam' chant, a phrase used by critics of President William Ruto. This act was reportedly perceived by his superiors at Jogoo House as a breach of the Service Standing Orders, which mandate police officers to remain apolitical. In the wake of this, Samidoh was ordered to report to Gilgil immediately. Reports also surfaced that he had deserted his post after extending his leave without notice, leading authorities to issue an arrest warrant against him for insubordination.

Addressing the controversy in a candid interview, Samidoh firmly stated that he is not resigning from the police force, emphasizing his pride in his journey within law enforcement. However, he revealed that he has yet to make a final decision on whether he will honor the redeployment orders. He explained, "About me going to Baringo, I have taken a step back and I am now discussing with my family, my clan, and even the broader community to know how they feel about it. If they say that I should go, then I will go. If they say that I should not go, then I will not go because I work for them."

Despite facing increasing public scrutiny and pressure, Samidoh has remained defiant, stating, "I do not fear anyone. This country belongs to us and we cannot run away from it." He also teased an upcoming major declaration concerning his future. His remarks have garnered mixed reactions on social media, with fans offering diverse opinions on whether he should comply with the redeployment. While speculation about his future in the police service continues, Samidoh recently unveiled his US tour schedule, with performances planned in Houston, Austin, and Lowell throughout June and July.
