Kenyan Police Ordered to Arrest Musician Samidoh and Halt Salary

Samuel Ndiriangu Muchoki, widely known by his stage name Samidoh, a prominent Mugithi singer and an officer with the National Police Service, has been officially declared a deserter. This declaration came after he failed to report back to his duties for a period exceeding ten days.
An internal memo dated June 9 detailed that Samidoh was scheduled to return from an off-duty break on May 27. However, he did not resume his duties as expected and has remained absent since. The memo further stated, "Efforts to trace him have been futile," indicating that his current whereabouts are unknown.
As a consequence of his unauthorized absence, Samidoh, who serves under the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), has had his salary stopped. The official notice confirmed his status: "He has now absented himself without leave for more than ten days and he is hereby declared a deserter. His salary stopped with immediate effect."
In response to his desertion, police authorities in Gatumbiro, Nyandarua West, which is Samidoh’s home location, have been instructed to arrest him if he is found. The directive states: "Visit his home and if traced arrest him and inform this end for necessary action."
This development occurs weeks after Samidoh was reportedly transferred from Gilgil to Baringo. While no formal reason for the transfer was provided, sources within the police service suggested that the move was linked to a live performance of his song ‘Wantam’ that had gone viral online and drawn attention.
