Sam Faiers Faces Mum-Shaming Backlash Over Son's Defiant Outburst

Reality TV star Sam Faiers has recently faced criticism from online users, dubbed "mum-shaming," after an episode of her new ITVX reality show, "Sam & Billie: Sister Act," depicted her struggling to manage her two-year-old son, Edward, during a family lunch outing. The show, which offers a candid look into motherhood, captured Edward's defiant behavior, leading to a wave of online commentary.
During the restaurant lunch with Sam and his seven-year-old sister Rosie, Edward was seen throwing chips, prompting Sam to address his actions and acknowledge that he wasn't listening to her warnings. Sam candidly admitted that Edward was a "ticking time bomb" as they waited for their food. Later, Edward clambered on the floor and explored a bag, retrieving a sticky lip gloss which Sam had to take away. He then wandered off, returning with a glass bottle of apple juice. Despite Sam's attempts to encourage him to sit down, Edward refused, leading her to conclude that it was "time to cut our losses and get out of here."
A clip of the incident shared on TikTok quickly garnered numerous comments. Many users criticized Sam's parenting style, suggesting a lack of control, boundaries, and discipline. Comments ranged from accusations of "wet lettuce parenting" to statements like "Zero punishment or consequences for bad behaviour in all of these kids." Some also drew parallels to the parenting style of her sister, Billie.
Conversely, a significant portion of commenters defended Sam, attributing Edward's behavior to the common challenges of the "terrible twos." Supporters argued that such incidents are normal for two-year-olds and that Sam should not be judged. They highlighted that most parents experience similar struggles, the only difference being that their moments are not filmed for public consumption. This isn't the first time Sam Faiers has faced mum-shaming, having previously caused controversy over her stance on applying sun cream to her children.
