A Tornado Watch has been issued for a portion of Minnesota that includes Koochiching, Itasca, Cass, Lake of the Woods, and Beltrami Counties. This is in effect until 10 pm as thunderstorms developing ahead of a cold front may produce tornadoes.

In addition to the tornado risk, there is potential for another round of large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. This risk comes as Beltrami County continues to recover from Friday night’s storms.

A lake breeze has kept temperatures cooler than anticipated today, which has also resulted in fog in some areas near the lake. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for these areas until 4 am Monday.

Winds will become more southwesterly after midnight, which will make temperatures rise in areas along the Lake Superior shoreline. Temperatures will then cool in the late overnight to early morning hours. In Duluth, the temperature will be around the same at 1 am as it will be at 6 pm on Monday.

There is a chance of lingering showers and thunderstorms on Monday morning, mainly before 9 am. Skies will clear by the late afternoon, and it will be breezy with highs in the 70s to low 80s.

Another round of rain is likely on Wednesday, but with cooler conditions, thunderstorms are unlikely. Temperatures will be in the 60s to mid-70s for most of the week and then warm back up to the upper 70s to low 80s starting on Monday.
