Rwanda Lands Historic Aston Villa Deal to Boost Global Tourism and Investment

Rwanda has secured a landmark partnership with English Premier League side Aston Villa, with the country's tourism brand, Visit Rwanda, becoming the club's Official Front-of-Shirt Partner, Official Tourism Partner, and Official Coffee Provider. Announced on July 14, 2026, the deal makes Aston Villa the second Premier League club to partner with Visit Rwanda after Arsenal.

Under the agreement, Visit Rwanda's branding will feature on the men's, women's, and youth teams' jerseys across all competitions, significantly expanding Rwanda's global visibility through one of football's biggest platforms.

Beyond shirt sponsorship, the partnership includes international marketing campaigns, matchday branding at Villa Park, digital storytelling initiatives, and fan experiences designed to showcase Rwanda's tourism, investment opportunities, and cultural offerings.

The collaboration will also support football development programmes in Rwanda through coach education, academy exchanges, scholarships, charitable projects, and leadership development initiatives aimed at nurturing local talent and creating long-term social impact.

The agreement aligns with Rwanda's broader economic ambitions as it seeks to double private investment to $4.6 billion and increase annual tourism revenues to $1.1 billion by 2029. Rwanda's economy grew by 9.4 per cent in 2025, while the tourism and conference sector generated a record $685 million from 1.49 million visitors.

Aston Villa described the partnership as the most significant sponsorship deal in the club's history, underscoring Rwanda's growing influence in global sports diplomacy and its strategy of leveraging international sporting partnerships to drive tourism, trade, and investment.
