Runcorn man dies and passenger injured in Weston Link Road crash

A MAN has sadly died and a passenger is in hospital with serious injuries following a crash involving a motorbike.

Detectives from Cheshire Police are now appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with any video footage of the fatal collision in Runcorn, to come forward.

Shortly before 9.15pm last night, Wednesday, police were called to reports of a serious collision on the northbound Weston Link Road exit slip road towards Runcorn Spur Road.

Officers attended and found that the collision involved a green Kawasaki motorbike.

The rider of the bike, a 56-year-old local man, sustained serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. 

A passenger on the bike, a 20-year-old local woman, also sustained serious injuries and was taken Aintree Hospital, where she remains at this time.

Cheshire Police says that enquiries are ongoing, and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident.

DS Russell Sime, of the force’s serious collision investigation unit, said: "Weston Link Road is a busy road, and as part of our investigation, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed this collision to get in touch.

“The same goes for anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage that may help us determine how this incident occurred.

“If you have any information, no matter how small, please get in touch.”
