Royal Shockwaves: Andrew's Title Stripping Triggers Major Windsor Upheaval

Following the formal removal of his royal titles, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has experienced a profound shift in his treatment upon returning to Windsor Castle. Sources indicate that the 'respect' he was accustomed to has 'disappeared' since his demotion. This dramatic change stems from his controversial association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, prompting King Charles to formally strip Andrew of his titles on November 4. These removed titles included his princehood, dukedom, Order of the Garter knighthood, and military appointments.

Reports from the Mirror, citing the Daily Mail's Ephraim Hardcastle, detail the specific ways in which Andrew's status has been diminished. Guards at Windsor Castle reportedly no longer salute him, and the customary bows he previously received at every turn have ceased. Some guards have even taken satisfaction in addressing him as 'Mr Mountbatten Windsor' instead of 'Your Royal Highness'. Adding to his loss of privilege, Andrew's long-standing benefit of having meals delivered from the Castle, described as a 'Royal Deliveroo', has also been withdrawn.

Beyond the change in daily courtesies, Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson were also instructed to vacate the Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, their residence since 2004. Buckingham Palace announced this directive last month, alongside the news of his title removal. Andrew, 65, agreed to relinquish his titles and leave the 30-room property as his connections to Jeffrey Epstein continued to generate controversy for the Royal Family. The Palace explicitly stated: "Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him."

The decline in Andrew's respect and privileges at Windsor Castle is not the sole alteration he has faced. King Charles has also reportedly blocked a 'bizarre' £32,000 request from his brother. According to author Robert Jobson's new book, 'The Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty', Andrew sought to pay a substantial sum for spiritual Indian gurus to treat him while he resided at the property. While this request had previously been approved by the late Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles swiftly denied it, reportedly being "horrified" by the proposal. Jobson notes that the palace's shift, though quiet, was unmistakable, with a senior insider explaining, "This isn’t about financial cuts. It’s about getting value for money and efficiency. Sometimes less truly is more."
