King Charles III has delivered a definitive blow to his disgraced brother, Andrew, by formally stripping him of his Prince title and the accompanying 'Royal Highness' (HRH) style. This unprecedented action was formalized through a Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm, a legal document personally authorized by the monarch. The official public record, The Gazette, published the entry on November 3, 2025, unequivocally stating that “THE KING has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of ‘Royal Highness’ and the titular dignity of ‘Prince’.”

This decision to effectively banish his younger brother and remove his birthright titles, including his dukedom, comes amid escalating controversy surrounding Andrew's deeply troubling ties to the convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. The former Duke of York has been a source of immense shame for the Royal Family due to his past associations with Epstein, facing persistent allegations of sexually abusing Virginia Giuffre, who claims she was trafficked by the financier. Andrew has consistently and vehemently denied all these claims.

Buckingham Palace had indicated the King's intention to remove Andrew's titles earlier, driven by growing public anger and a palpable sense of public revulsion over the litany of tawdry allegations against him.
