Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is embarking on a significant expansion strategy, with a robust schedule of new direct flights set to launch by 2026. Operating from its key hub at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport, this initiative aims to solidify RAM's standing as a premier African carrier. The expansion is poised to dramatically boost Africa's air connectivity with Europe, the Americas, and other African nations, thereby fostering new avenues for tourism, business, and cross-continental collaborations, particularly benefiting sub-Saharan African travel professionals.

Starting April 2026, RAM will introduce several crucial routes designed to underscore Morocco’s ambition as a global aviation hub. These include direct flights to Pointe-Noire in the Republic of Congo and Tripoli in Libya, which will strengthen vital North-South and West-Central African travel links. Concurrently, new services to Beirut in Lebanon and to the Spanish cities of Alicante and Bilbao will commence, further extending RAM’s reach into the Mediterranean and broader European markets. The expansion continues into June 2026 with the introduction of a new route connecting Casablanca to Palma de Mallorca, a popular destination in Spain’s Balearic Islands, alongside a direct service to Verona in Italy, set to debut on June 20. These additions are strategically designed to meet the growing demand for both leisure and business travel between Africa and Southern Europe, offering more seamless connections for travelers to and from sub-Saharan Africa.

Beyond these immediate new launches, Royal Air Maroc is also fulfilling earlier route commitments, notably a direct service from Casablanca to St. Petersburg in Russia, slated for January 2026. This eastward expansion is significant, as it provides the African tourism sector with new opportunities to tap into the consistently growing Russian outbound travel market. Perhaps the most anticipated long-haul development is the launch of the nonstop Casablanca–Los Angeles service on June 7, 2026. This game-changing 12-hour flight will operate three times weekly using Boeing 787 aircraft, opening direct access between North and West Africa and the U.S. West Coast. For African tourism and trade professionals, this route is expected to cultivate new business and leisure flows and promote multi-destination itineraries spanning Africa and North America.

To complement this extensive network growth, RAM is also increasing frequencies on several well-established long-haul routes, particularly those connecting Casablanca to São Paulo, Miami, Washington, and Dubai. These enhanced frequencies are intended to accommodate rising passenger demand and provide more flexible travel options for both African and international travelers. The improved connectivity to the Americas and the Middle East further reinforces RAM’s commitment to positioning Casablanca as a pivotal gateway for Africa, facilitating better access and smoother connections for travelers across the continent.

RAM’s CEO, Hamid Addou, has emphasized that this phase is an integral part of the airline's broader growth strategy. He highlighted that since 2023, the airline has taken delivery of approximately 10 additional aircraft, increased frequencies on numerous strategic destinations, and inaugurated nearly 20 international routes. The introduction of at least 10 new routes in 2026 is expected to further enhance Morocco’s global air connectivity and significantly support the country’s economic and tourism development plans.

Underpinning these ambitious network enhancements is a long-term strategy focused on modernizing and substantially expanding RAM’s fleet. The carrier plans to introduce new long-haul aircraft equipped with upgraded cabins, ensuring passengers experience state-of-the-art comfort and amenities on extended journeys. With a current fleet of around 60 aircraft, RAM’s visionary goal is to reach a total of 200 aircraft by 2037.
