Rosalía Honored with Coveted Ivors Songwriting Award in 2026

Catalonian singer-songwriter Rosalía is set to receive the prestigious International Songwriter of the Year award at The Ivors' upcoming awards ceremony. The honorary accolade will be presented to her at the May 21 event, held at the historic Grosvenor House Hotel in London. According to The Ivors' press release, this award is given to an international songwriter whose released songs have demonstrated significant cultural and commercial impact in the U.K. over the past year.

The Ivors Academy, recognized as one of Europe's largest professional associations for music writers, organizes these awards. The winners are meticulously chosen by a select panel of esteemed songwriters and composers. With a history stretching back to its inception in 1956, The Ivors ceremony consistently draws major figures from both domestic and international music scenes, having previously honored legends such as The Beatles, David Bowie, Adele, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, and the iconic duo Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Notably, in 2025, Brandon Flowers of The Killers received a special international award for his songwriting contributions.

Rosalía's recent work, particularly her fourth studio album titled "Lux," released in October 2025, has garnered widespread critical acclaim and commercial success. The album made a significant impact on charts, reaching No. 4 on both the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart and the highly competitive Billboard 200. A remarkable feature of "Lux" is Rosalía's vocal performances in an impressive 13 different languages, including Spanish, Catalan, English, Latin, German, and Arabic, showcasing her linguistic versatility and global appeal. Her achievements in this period also include collecting the International Artist of the Year prize at the 2026 BRIT Awards, where she delivered a memorable performance of the "Lux" single “Berghain,” featuring a special cameo from Björk.

Commenting on Rosalía's recognition, Roberto Neri, chief executive of The Ivors Academy, expressed profound admiration. He stated, “We are proud to celebrate Rosalía as International Songwriter of the Year. Her songwriting has captured the hearts and minds of audiences around the globe.” Neri further elaborated on her unique contribution, adding: “With lyrics in over 13 languages, Rosalía has broken down barriers and borders, and I’m delighted she will be celebrated by our community and industry as she picks up her first Ivor Novello Award. This recognition reflects our growing global outlook and celebrates songwriters defining music and culture.” The upcoming ceremony is also set to honor other notable artists, with nominees including Olivia Dean, Wolf Alice, Lola Young, and Coldplay.
