Lionel Messi is grappling with profound grief and uncertainty about his football career following the death of his father, Jorge Messi. Jorge, who was 68, passed away last week after a prolonged illness. He had been a pivotal figure in Messi's life and career, serving as his agent since the Argentina captain was 14 and remaining one of the most influential people in his journey.

In an emotional tribute shared on social media, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner expressed the deep impact of his father’s passing. Messi questioned his ability to continue playing professional football for much longer, writing, “I don’t know what I’m going to do without you. I don’t know how to carry on.
