Rolls-Royce Eyes India as Strategic ‘Home’ Market, Pledges Partnerships to Drive Innovation and Growth

British defence and engineering giant Rolls-Royce has unveiled plans to position India as a strategic home market, signaling a bold expansion that aligns with the nation’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. The announcement was made on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, by the company’s CEO, Tufan Erginbilgic, highlighting Rolls-Royce’s commitment to long-term collaboration and technological development across air, land, and sea domains.

Erginbilgic emphasized that the company seeks to build in-country capabilities and form strategic alliances to accelerate India’s progress. “We have deep ambitions to develop India as a home for Rolls-Royce, building on our strong and successful partnership. Our competitively advantaged technologies across air, land and sea applications position us to successfully build in-country capabilities and foster strategic partnerships that will accelerate India’s progress towards a Viksit Bharat,” he stated.

The CEO also stressed the strong UK-India partnership, framing the two nations as “natural partners” with aligned interests in advancing their 2035 Vision. “The UK and India are natural partners, working in a win-win collaboration for the benefit of people in both nations. We are determined to be India’s partner on its Atmanirbhar journey, driving further growth and promoting self-reliance, innovation and a global presence in critical industries,” Erginbilgic added.

His visit coincided with a delegation led by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who praised Rolls-Royce as a symbol of British excellence. Starmer emphasized that the company’s commitment in India complements broader UK goals, including economic growth, job creation, and strengthening bilateral ties. “Rolls-Royce is a symbol of British excellence, and I was delighted to meet CEO Tufan Erginbilgic during my visit to India. Their commitment to growing in India supports our Plan for Change – driving economic growth at home, creating jobs, and strengthening UK-India ties. Together with world-class businesses like Rolls-Royce, we’re building a more prosperous future for both nations,” the Prime Minister said.

Rolls-Royce, a venerable British manufacturer with nearly nine decades of legacy, is renowned for its contributions to civil aviation, defence, energy, and automobiles. Its continued expansion in India underscores a long-term strategic commitment, aiming to bolster technological innovation, foster local partnerships, and strengthen its global presence while supporting India’s ambition for self-reliance and industrial growth.
