Rocker Jack White Slams Donald Trump's 'Blasphemous' Social Media Post

Musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jack White has issued a fervent challenge to the millions of evangelical Christians and Catholics who continue to support Donald Trump, questioning their allegiance in light of the former president's recent controversial actions and statements. White's query came after a bizarre 24-hour period during which Trump posted, and subsequently deleted, an AI-generated image depicting himself as Jesus Christ, complete with flowing robes and glowing hands, ministering to a man on his deathbed amidst nurses, floating soldiers, and an American flag. White joined a chorus of critics who condemned the image as blasphemy, taking to Instagram to lambaste Trump’s religious base for their unwavering support.
In his lengthy message, White directly addressed evangelical Christians, reminding them of their long-standing concerns about an 'anti-Christ' figure who would present himself as Christlike and instigate a final war in the Middle East involving Jerusalem. He provocatively suggested that they 'check out your boy now,' referring to Trump. White further enumerated a list of alleged offenses—including felonies, Epstein files, rapes, the bombing of schoolchildren, ICE agents attacking citizens, and threats to invade Greenland, Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran—arguing that if these actions had not convinced them that Trump was a 'deranged grifter,' perhaps the AI post would.
Citing data from the Public Religion Research Institute, which indicates significant support for Trump among White evangelical Protestants (81-17 over Kamala Harris in the 2024 election), Hispanic Protestants (63-35), and White Catholics (60-37), White, a former altar boy raised in a strict Catholic household, specifically questioned how any Catholic could back Trump after his repeated attacks on Pope Leo XIV. White asserted that Trump had already earned the title of 'worst President in the history of America' and declared him the 'Worst American of All Time.'
White's remarks about Trump's attacks on the Pope refer to a lengthy missive Trump posted on his social media site. In this post, Trump audaciously suggested that Pope Leo XIV's election was a strategic move to counter him, stating, 'if I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican.' He then proceeded to criticize Pope Leo XIV as 'weak on crime' and 'terrible for foreign policy,' labeling him a 'loser' who was 'catering to the radical Left.' This unprecedented attack on a sitting Pope by a U.S. president followed closely after Trump's expletive-filled Easter Sunday rant, where he threatened Iran with phrases like, 'Open the F–kin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, ore you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH,' before sarcastically adding 'Praise be to Allah,' an act that further offended Muslims.
Pope Leo XIV, who is described as the first American elected to lead the world's more than 1.4 billion Catholics, responded to Trump's criticism on Monday, April 13, stating he had 'no fear of the Trump administration, nor speaking out loudly about the message of the Gospel.' When asked if he would apologize to the Pope, Trump unequivocally replied 'no,' justifying his stance by claiming Pope Leo XIV had 'said things that are wrong,' specifically concerning Trump's war against Iran, a conflict initiated over a month prior that has caused global economic instability and heightened fears of a broader Middle East conflict. The White House, in a rare move, eventually removed Trump's AI-generated Jesus image. However, Trump offered no apology, instead claiming he posted the image himself, believing it depicted him as 'a doctor that had to do with the Red Cross.'
Jack White, a consistent critic of Trump, dismissed this explanation, concluding his post with a lament over the continued support from Catholics. He observed, 'after some backlash (looks like SOME christians actually take their own religion seriously) trump is now saying that this AI image depicts him as a doctor for the Red Cross! He lies, then lies about the lie, then doubles down on that lie with another lie and they Just. Keep. Falling. For. It.'
