Rock Legend Rod Stewart Cancels Shows After Stent Procedure, Fans Heartbroken

Sir Rod Stewart has provided a reassuring health update to his fans following the cancellation of several tour dates. The legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Famer successfully underwent a routine coronary stent procedure and is reported to be “very much on the mend.” According to a statement released to Billboard on Tuesday, August 11, doctors are pleased with his recovery, and he has resumed normal daily activities.

Despite his quick recovery, medical advice mandates that Sir Rod remain off the road for the next four weeks to fully recuperate and regain optimal fitness before returning to the stage. This necessary period of rest unfortunately impacts his current tour schedule, leading to the postponement of upcoming performances.

Stewart personally addressed his fans, expressing gratitude to the medical professionals who cared for him. “I’m already feeling better. I want to thank doctors, nurses, and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me,” he stated. He also conveyed his deep disappointment at having to miss shows and let down his fans, but he eagerly anticipates his return to the stage for future performances.

The health update clarifies the reason behind the previously canceled consecutive performances in Cincinnati and Cleveland. His August 9 concert at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati was postponed due to an “unforeseen but minor medical procedure,” while his August 11 performance at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena was canceled after doctors recommended at least 48 hours of rest. Sir Rod has now confirmed that a coronary stent was inserted, a small mesh tube designed to keep a narrowed or blocked artery open and improve blood flow.

This recovery period puts a temporary halt on Stewart’s upcoming performance commitments. His ‘One Last Time Tour’ was scheduled to continue with dates including August 14 at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines and August 15 at the Morton Amphitheater in Kansas City. His ‘Encore Shows’ residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas was also set to resume on August 18. Furthermore, his North American touring schedule, planned to restart on September 1 at the Minnesota State Fair in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, with additional dates throughout September at locations like Illinois’ Ravinia Festival, Mexico, and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado, will also be affected. Information regarding the impacted tour dates will be released soon by the respective promoters and venues, as Sir Rod prioritizes regaining his full health.
