Rising Star Olivia Dean Dazzles with Soulful Performance in 'SNL' Debut!

British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean made a memorable debut on Saturday Night Live on November 15, showcasing her talent with two captivating performances from her critically acclaimed sophomore album, “The Art of Loving.” The 26-year-old BRIT School alumna appeared alongside host Glen Powell, delivering an energetic rendition of “Man I Need” and a mesmerizing performance of “Let Alone the One You Love.”
“The Art of Loving,” released in September, has garnered significant attention, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. Dean, a rising soul-pop artist, further cemented her growing recognition with a nomination for Best New Artist at the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards.
For her opening song, “Man I Need,” currently a top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, Dean exuded glamour in a sparkly gold dress, backed by a full band that complemented her vibrant sound. She then transitioned into “Let Alone the One You Love,” enchanting the audience in a flowing pink gown against a harmonizing backdrop, creating a visually stunning and emotionally resonant performance.
Olivia Dean’s crossover momentum in the U.S. has been undeniable, with four of her tracks currently featured on the Billboard Hot 100. Reflecting on her distinctive musical approach, Dean shared with Billboard, “I’ve never been somebody who has followed trends or made music because of what else was popular at the time. I like old music, I like soul music, I like Motown. That’s what I wanted to make, and in my mind, I’m in my own lane in that way.”
Looking ahead, fans can anticipate “The Art of Loving Tour,” a North American leg scheduled for next summer. The tour will commence in San Francisco on July 10, with subsequent stops in major cities including Los Angeles, New York City (featuring a performance at Madison Square Garden), Atlanta, Toronto, Las Vegas, Boston, and Houston, before concluding in Austin on August 28.
