Results of the 2024 call European Digital Reporting | Shaping Europe's digital future
Two projects will receive EU support for production and distribution of multilingual, digital reporting on EU affairs, under the 2024 Call European Digital Reporting.
This call, with a budget of , aims at providing citizens with a wide choice of online news content on EU affairs, leveraging Europe’s diversity as an asset for democracy and pluralism. With this call, media players will establish and/or develop online news platforms across the EU to enhance EU citizens’ access to digital information.
Two projects were selected, with a duration of 24 months. The projects showcased a high use of innovative editorial formats and dissemination strategies, as well as professional journalistic standards and full editorial independence.
The European Correspondent: Next Generation of European Affairs (TEC: NEXTGEN) project will deliver comprehensive coverage of European affairs in 6 European languages through newsletters, investigations, podcasts, and videos. The project will harness AI-driven tools for personalisation and distribution of content, data visualisation techniques, and synthetic voice for content delivery. Besides, the project will build capacity by developing a dedicated learning hub for the next generation of journalists.
The project is managed by the European Correspondent.
The project aims to create a new type of information platform dealing with European affairs, by using innovative formats and forms of distribution. The creation of a database with EU media outlets’ archives, complemented by the integration of an AI-based chatbot, is innovate and will increase the engagement with readers. Available in 7 EU languages, the content has diverse formats, from breaking news, live streams and daily news to in-depth reporting and long investigation.
