Reality TV Frenzy: 'Celebrity Traitors' Sparks Fan Outcry and Praise

On Wednesday, October 29, the "Celebrity Traitors" delivered a series of dramatic twists and turns, captivating viewers as the stars navigated deceit and high-stakes missions. The episode saw the remaining celebrities face the constant threat of being "murdered" by the undetected Traitors. Actor Nick Mohammed, comedian Lucy Beaumont, and broadcaster Kate Garraway were summoned by host Claudia Winkleman to a giant chessboard in the dead of night, where Lucy Beaumont was ultimately chosen as the next victim by the Traitors: Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, and Cat Burns. Upon seeing her killers, Lucy expressed her dismay, hoping they felt "terrible," and later reflected on her shock and feeling "quite betrayed," yet also a sense of "relief."

Following the night's events, a challenging mission involving a very high bridge tested the celebrities, who were paired up with the hope of one securing a shield for protection. Tensions were palpable, but it was Claudia Winkleman's uncharacteristic reactions to Alan Carr's antics on the bridge that garnered significant attention from viewers on social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter). Many observed Claudia "breaking character" and "having the time of her life" watching Alan, with comments highlighting her amusement.

Later, at the highly anticipated roundtable, the focus of suspicion shifted dramatically. While Kate Garraway initially faced scrutiny at the breakfast table, Jonathan Ross quickly became the primary target. His fellow Traitors, Cat Burns and Alan Carr, strategically "threw him under the bus," with Cat specifically drawing attention to his earlier "double bluff" kill of Ruth Codd. Despite Jonathan's pleas of being a Faithful, the accusations mounted, leading to his imminent banishment.

Jonathan Ross delivered a memorable and theatrical banishment speech. Instead of instantly revealing his status, he first feigned indignation, calling his fellow contestants "idiots" for banishing him and stating, "I cannot believe you’ve done it again." He then dramatically declared his ultimate allegiance: "I am now, and I have been all through the game, completely faithful… to the Traitors." Viewers reacted strongly to this revelation, with many admitting they were momentarily fooled by his convincing performance, calling it "pure cinema" and "so good even I was confused."

Cat Burns, in particular, received widespread praise from viewers for her strategic move against Jonathan at the roundtable, with many admiring her courage. Following the episode, Cat took to TikTok to send her love to Jonathan Ross and apologize for her actions, captioning her video, "Me throwing Jonathan under the bus at tonight's roundtable" with "Love him though but it had to be done," highlighting the difficult decisions within the game.

Throughout these intense events, the celebrities collectively raised £53,500 for charity. "Celebrity Traitors" continues to air on Wednesday and Thursday nights on BBC One at 9pm and is available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
