Real Madrid Quashes Alexander-Arnold Transfer Rumors, Insists Star Stays!
)
The football transfer market remains a hive of activity, with rumors and potential moves dominating headlines globally. Amidst the swirling speculation, clarity has emerged regarding the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid, while Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta's desire for a move to AC Milan continues to unfold. Several prominent clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea, are actively pursuing targets to bolster their squads for the upcoming seasons.
Contrary to recent reports emanating from Spain, particularly from El Nacional, suggestions that Trent Alexander-Arnold has been instructed by interim manager Alvaro Arbeloa to leave Real Madrid this summer have been debunked. The Daily Mail refutes these claims, asserting that the England international, despite a challenging start to his Real Madrid career, is set to continue at the Bernabéu. Alexander-Arnold, who joined on a free transfer from Liverpool six months ago, has faced significant injury setbacks, limiting him to just 11 appearances across all competitions, providing a single assist and failing to score. He is currently recovering from a muscle injury and is expected to be fit again in February. The club has clarified that the allegations of a "frank conversation" between Alexander-Arnold and Arbeloa, where the defender was advised to leave, are unfounded. His struggles at the club level have also had repercussions on his international prospects, having made only one appearance for England under Thomas Tuchel, putting his place in this summer's World Cup squad in North America in jeopardy. Interim manager Alvaro Arbeloa's tenure has seen a turbulent start since replacing Alonso on January 11, following a Super Cup loss to Barcelona. After an initial shock defeat to second-division side Albacete, Arbeloa has since guided the team to two consecutive victories, including an impressive 6-1 win over Monaco in the Champions League, and is understood to have successfully eased growing tensions within the squad.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace has reportedly rejected a bid from AC Milan for their striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. However, the Serie A giants are not giving up, signaling their determination to secure a deal that satisfies all parties. Mateta, for his part, has made his intentions clear, communicating his desire to leave Palace earlier this month and having already agreed to personal terms with AC Milan. The France international has been a notable performer for the Eagles, netting eight goals in 22 Premier League appearances, and is currently under contract in South London until June 2027.
In other significant transfer news, Liverpool is poised to engage in a bidding war with Bayern Munich for the services of RB Leipzig's sensational 19-year-old winger, Yan Diomande. Diomande has garnered considerable attention with eight goal involvements in just 16 Bundesliga games, attracting interest from several of Europe's top clubs despite having been at Leipzig for only six months. Liverpool, reportedly in the market for a left-winger, has shortlisted the Ivory Coast international as a potential option, with Manchester City also monitoring his progress.
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton as realistic summer midfield targets. While the club has also been tracking Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, they anticipate that he is more likely to join rivals Manchester City in the long term.
Chelsea's defensive reinforcements are also a focus, with Bild journalist Christian Falk reporting the Blues' interest in Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-Jae. Min-Jae, who has made only seven Bundesliga starts this season, could potentially be available. Chelsea has been actively drawing up a shortlist of defenders for the summer and has previously held transfer talks for Rennes' Jérémy Jacquet.
Further transfer rumblings include AC Milan's interest in Liverpool defender Joe Gomez and Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Radu Drǎguşin, as reported by Calciomercato. Aston Villa has scheduled a medical for striker Tammy Abraham, with a proposed €21 million move from Besiktas anticipated this weekend, according to Sky Sports. Brighton and Hove Albion's winger Tommy Watson has been made available for a loan spell, attracting interest from several Championship clubs. Young Manchester United left-back Harry Amass has completed a medical at Norwich City ahead of a proposed loan move, while West Ham United midfielder Guido Rodríguez is expected to join Valencia on a free transfer, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Adding to Liverpool's potential movements, TalkSPORT suggests the club is considering recalling Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma, a move that could pave the way for Andrew Robertson to join Tottenham in a permanent deal this month. Lazio and Fiorentina have inquired about Union Berlin defender Diogo Leite, and Napoli has met with representatives of Werder Bremen winger Justin Njinmah, viewing him as a potential replacement for Noah Lang. Across the Atlantic, Real Salt Lake is finalizing a €5 million deal to sign RC Lens forward Morgan Guilavogui. Lastly, Barcelona is preparing to offer a new contract to their attacking midfielder Fermin López to fend off interest from other clubs.
