Radisson Hotel Group Taps Veteran Clinton Thom to Lead Key Nairobi Hotel
Top city hotel, Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upperhill has a new General Manager, Mr Clinton Thom.
In a move aimed at bolstering its leadership in East Africa’s burgeoning hospitality sector, Radisson hotel group, the parent company that also owns Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence Nairobi Arboretum and Park Inn by Radisson Nairobi Westlands, has shaken up its management.
Thom, seasoned hotelier with two decades of experience, most recently served as General Manager at the Radisson Collection Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town. His new role places him at the helm of a critical business and conferencing hub in the Kenyan capital.
He brings a track record of driving performance and strategic repositioning. During his six-year tenure in Cape Town, he oversaw a successful rebranding from Radisson Blu and a partial refurbishment, while achieving record food and beverage revenues and leading the competitive set in Revenue Generation Index (RGI). The property also maintained full operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic without staff retrenchments, a rare accomplishment in the global hospitality industry.

“We are delighted that after an illustrious career with Radisson Hotel Group, Clinton continues to share his knowledge and passion with our colleagues at Radisson Blu Nairobi Upper Hill,” said Sandra Kneubuhler, Radisson Hotel Group’s Managing Director for Sub Saharan Africa.
Thom’s career with Radisson also includes general manager roles at Park Inn by Radisson Newlands and Radisson Blu Le Vendome. He began his career in operations, with key roles spanning revenue management, food and beverage, and rooms division.
A prominent fixture in Nairobi’s corporate landscape, the 271-room Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill is the group’s largest facility in Nairobi and features 14 meeting rooms, a 590-square-meter ballroom, and four food and beverage outlets.
The hotel primarily caters to corporate travelers and the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment. “I look forward to working closely with the team to drive operational excellence, enhance guest satisfaction, and contribute to Nairobi’s continued growth as a regional business hub,” Thom stated.
His appointment comes as Kenya’s hospitality sector continues its post-pandemic recovery, propelled by a rebound in business travel and international events.
Nairobi maintains its position as a strategic base for multinational corporations and international hotel brands aiming to expand their footprint in the East African market.
