Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo, childhood friends from the San Francisco Bay area, set a course record with a 14-under par 58. The brother/brother team of Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard of Denmark was one stroke back.

Masters champion/world No. 2 Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, the 2024 Zurich champions, got off to a birdie-birdie start on 10 and 11 and went birdie-eagle on 1 and 2, but played the remaining 14 holes in just 3 under to shoot an 8 under 64. They’re tied for 28th.

Two-man teams play the following format:

Four-ball (best ball)

Four-ball (best ball)

Sunday: Foursomes (alternate shot)

Daily tournament tickets are $45 each. Children under 15 are admitted free with a paying adult, as are active military. Public parking is at NOLA Motorsports Park, 11075 Nicolle Boulevard, with a new entrance near the third hole.
