Queen of Pop Returns: Madonna Back with Warner, Teases Blockbuster 2026 Dance Album!

Pop icon Madonna is making a significant return to her original label, Warner Records, after nearly two decades away. The announcement, made by Warner Records on Thursday, September 18, confirms that the best-selling female artist of all time has signed a deal for her "highly anticipated, upcoming new dance album." This move signals a powerful full-circle moment for the legendary musician, rekindling a partnership that defined the formative years of her illustrious career.
Madonna herself celebrated the reunion on Instagram, expressing her profound connection to the label. She wrote, “Almost 2 decades later — And it feels like home with Warner Records! Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began! COADF – Pt. 2 2026.” Her post featured a series of evocative images: the 67-year-old superstar seated on a mattress in a gauzy light pink nightgown, gazing intently at the camera with an old-fashioned typewriter at her feet, striking the sultry poses that have become her signature. The final slide showcased a pair of gold heels and a black purse emblazoned with “P–sy Power” in rhinestones, reflecting her enduring provocative style.
Warner Records served as Madonna’s primary label home for the initial 25 years of her career, commencing in 1981 when she signed with the Sire Records subsidiary run by Seymour Stein. It was under this banner that she released her self-titled debut in 1983, an album that launched a string of indelible early dance-pop hits, including “Everybody,” “Burning Up,” “Holiday,” “Lucky Star,” and “Borderline.” Madonna reflected on this pivotal beginning in a statement announcing the new deal, saying, “From being a struggling artist in New York City to signing a record deal to release just three singles it seemed at the time my world would never be the same again and in fact that couldn’t have been truer. Since the beginning Warner Records has been a real partner with me. I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while perhaps provoking a few needed conversations.”
The newly signed deal is set to yield immediate creative results, with a new album scheduled for release in 2026. This forthcoming collection will mark Madonna’s first full-length offering of new songs since 2019’s *Madame X*. The untitled album promises a reunion with producer/songwriter Stuart Price, with whom Madonna will collaborate on what is described as a sequel to her critically acclaimed 2005 LP, *Confessions on a Dance Floor*, which famously spawned hits like “Hung Up” and “Sorry.”
Warner Records co-chairmen Tom Carson and Aaron Bay-Schuck enthusiastically welcomed Madonna back. In a joint statement, they declared, “We are honored to welcome Madonna back home to Warner Records. Madonna isn’t just an artist — she’s the blueprint, the rule-breaker, the ultimate cultural juggernaut. For decades, she has not only defined the sound of global pop music but also reshaped culture itself with her vision, innovation, and fearless artistry. This signing represents a historic, full circle moment, one that brings her back to the label where it all began and reaffirms her unparalleled influence, setting the stage for an exciting new era of creativity and impact.”
Throughout her initial tenure at Warner, Madonna released a catalog of iconic albums that cemented her status as a global superstar. These include seminal works such as *Like A Virgin* (1984), *True Blue* (1986), *Like a Prayer* (1989), *Erotica* (1992), *Bedtime Stories* (1994), *Ray of Light* (1998), *Music* (2000), *American Life* (2003), the original *Confessions on a Dance Floor* (2005), and *Hard Candy* (2008). After departing Warner, she moved to Interscope Records for her 2012 LP, *MDNA*. More recently, in July, Madonna released her long-rumored *Veronica Electronica* album, a compilation of eight rare and unreleased remixes derived from her beloved 1998 album, *Ray of Light*.
