Following the release of the official trailer, major creators of the game released videos showcasing gameplay, mechanics, and later even breaking down their favorite aspects of the game, as well as offering criticism. A number of content creators, such as The Red Hawk, have confirmed they are in communication with staff working on Europa Universalis 5 and that any community feedback they see will be relayed to the developers.

Paradox wanted to cater to every playstyle and mechanic that someone could want from a grand strategy game, which led to the game being in development for five years. In the same video, it was confirmed that the start year was set in stone in 1337, just prior to the black plague.
IGN said, “I’ve never seen anything like the just announced Europa Universalis 5… if the previous games in the franchise were the undergrad, this is a PHD game.” A sentiment that has been echoed by creators and the community, who are appalled at just how expansive the game is.
