A particular highlight for many attendees will be the return of The Cure. The band's last stage appearance was on November 1, at the Troxy in London, during the launch of their album "Songs of a Lost World." Their frontman, Robert Smith, recently made a notable appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in June, where he joined Olivia Rodrigoon stage to perform beloved tracks "Friday I’m in Love" and "Just Like Heaven."

Furthermore, Smith has provided exciting news for fans, revealing that more new music from The Cure could be on the horizon. Following the release of their first album in 16 years in 2024 and a subsequent live album, "Songs of a Live World," in December, Smith mentioned, "There is another album which is pretty much ready to go. It’s sort of its companion piece. And then there’s a third one which is completely different. It’s really kind of random stuff, it’s like late-night studio stuff. But some of it is really, really good actually, it’s just very, very different." This suggests a wealth of new material could accompany their 2026 festival appearance.
The announcement builds on the success of the previous year’s Primavera Sound Barcelona, which also featured an equally stacked lineup. The 2025 edition was headlined by artists such as Charli xcx, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter, with additional sets from LCD Soundsystem, FKA Twigs, Haim, IDLES, Turnstile, Fontaines D.C., and Jamies XX. The consistent caliber of acts reinforces Primavera Sound's reputation as a premier destination for music lovers.
