Presidential Tumble in Turkey Sparks Fury and Defense: Tinubu's Fall Goes Viral

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria embarked on a state visit to Türkiye, arriving in Ankara on Monday at approximately 9:03 p.m. local time.

He was welcomed at Ankara Esenboğa Airport by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, and other embassy officials.

At his hotel, he received a warm reception from Nigerian officials, including Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Minister of Defence Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), and several other senior government representatives.

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore areas of cooperation, including meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the signing of key Memoranda of Understanding.

Parade Stumble Incident

During a reception parade, President Tinubu reportedly stumbled while exchanging pleasantries with officials.

Video footage shared by SaharaReporters shows him losing his footing before being assisted by those nearby, including President Erdoğan.

No official statement has directly addressed the fall, although the President’s health has been a topic of public discussion.

Reassurances and Controversy

The Nigerian Presidency reassured the public of President Tinubu’s good health and continued engagement in official duties.

Special Adviser Sunday Dare posted on X that “President Tinubu in Great Shape as state visit proceeds smoothly.”

However, actor Lege Miami claimed the viral parade video was AI-generated and deliberately circulated to mislead the public ahead of upcoming elections.
