Dafinone Backs Tinubu, Calls Him Nigeria’s ‘Most Prepared Leader’

Senator Ede Dafinone, representing the Delta Central Senatorial District in Nigeria's 10th National Assembly, recently lauded President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms, characterizing him as one of the nation's most prepared leaders. This commendation was made during a significant courtesy visit to the Forum of Presidents-General of the 24 Urhobo Kingdoms, held at the Uvwie Town Hall in Effurun, Delta State. During this gathering, the esteemed Forum unanimously endorsed President Tinubu, along with Delta State Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and Senator Dafinone himself, for re-election in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Senator Dafinone emphasized that President Tinubu, despite having the option to pursue politically convenient paths, courageously opted for difficult but essential reforms. These reforms, he explained, are strategically designed to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term economic stability.

He highlighted President Tinubu’s comprehensive background in governance, finance, accounting, and politics as foundational preparation for his demanding leadership role. The lawmaker specifically pointed to critical reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidies, comprehensive exchange rate adjustments, and electricity subsidy reforms, acknowledging their initial painful impact but asserting their necessity for national rejuvenation.

Dafinone said past governments avoided major reforms over fears of political backlash, but argued strong leadership requires difficult decisions. He acknowledged short-term hardship but pointed to exchange rate stability, rising investments, and easing food prices as signs of recovery, insisting Nigerians would benefit from the reforms in the long run.

Turning to regional governance, Senator Dafinone extended his praise to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his distinguished performance in Delta State. He commended the Governor for his visible projects and pragmatic approach to governance, noting that barely three years into his tenure, Governor Oborevwori had already forged a substantial legacy.

This legacy, Dafinone believes, is poised to significantly influence political discourse within Delta State for years to come. He underscored the administration's unwavering commitment to infrastructure development, broader societal progress, and efficient service delivery, expressing personal pride in being part of the same political family dedicated to the advancement of the state and its people.
