President Tinubu's Shock Reversal: NTA DG Dembos Reinstated, Fresh Appointments Nullified

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a significant directive concerning the leadership structure of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), ordering the immediate reinstatement of key officials. This move effectively reverses earlier management changes that had briefly led to their departure from their respective roles.
Specifically, the President mandated the recall of Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos as the Director-General of the NTA and Mr. Ayo Adewuyi as the Executive Director of News. The directive was officially conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to Onanuga's statement, Mr. Dembos, who was initially appointed by President Tinubu in October 2023, will now return to complete his full three-year tenure. Similarly, Mr. Adewuyi, appointed in 2024, is also directed to resume his role and serve out his tenure, which is slated to run until 2027.
The presidential order explicitly nullifies a series of recent appointments that had been announced for various top management positions within the NTA. These include a new director-general, executive director of news, executive director of marketing, and managing director of NTA Enterprises. This decisive action underscores the President's commitment to ensuring stability and adherence to originally planned tenures within key government parastatals.
